Dear Family Alternatives Foster Families, 

The past few weeks have been incredibly difficult for our families, community and our Nation. We, as I’m sure many of you, are continuing to process not only the murder of George Floyd, but the protests and riots that have ensued as a result. Many of us are doing this while parenting, working, caretaking or attending classes. We are all familiar with how devastating trauma can be to our mind, body and soul; and we recognize the value in holding space to process and heal as a community.

For that reason, we are offering a space for our foster parents to process the recent events. This will be done in collaboration with Team Dynamics, the consulting agency that staff are currently engaged in anti-racism work with.

With respect to the difference in experiences based on the color of our skin, Team Dynamics will be offering two separate groups based on race.
